I was just a few years behind the times when Dylan exploded on the folk scene. I'm so totally absorbed in all phases of his music now, but this album hits particularly hard in the gut. It is every bit as relevant today as 40+ years ago!! "Masters of War" and "With God on our Side" go to my very core as I think about our politics of the last decade. But then, most all of them have a critical message for today. Will we ever really change? We have our first chance for a real change and I hope we don't blow it! I'm almost afraid to wish folks a Happy New Year.

I agree that Obama has made a disturbing move to the center. Call me naive, but those AM briefings he gets from the CIA have got to be unsettling, since he gets detailed reports on Al Quaeda plots to destroy us. I like the fact that his budget is planning for a better educated America...poor and rich alike. And I also like the other goals: getting off oil, and retraining America for jobs that support the new energy infrastructure. I hope he's being truthful when he says he wants to use troops in Afghanistan to teach the Afghanis how to defend themselves. Someone is FINALLY realizing that we cannot afford to police the world (thank God). But Iraq...I agree that more troops is very bad. As for the 60's? I'm so glad you released the 1966 concert in England. Was it at the Royal Albert or in Manchester? I hear different reports. I'm collecting as much of the live material as I can get my hands on and it's all fabulous, but that concert's in a class by itself. My favorite song of all time? Chimes of Freedom Flashing.
