From The Bob Dylan Encyclopedia by Michael Gray:

"Dylan [album, 1973] Unlucky 13th album— though it barely counts, since Dylan didn’t intend
its compilation or release. Essentially a malicious record company response to Dylan’s signing with
a new label, Asylum, in the US—a deliberate release of the worst tracks they could find in their vaults
without going to the trouble of looking very far back: Dylan warming up before recording
other things; Dylan messing about; outtakes largely from the New Morning sessions; and all
compounded by a mix that brought the back-up vocals horrendously far forward. Two ironies: despite
all this malice aforethought, the album isn’t as bad as they meant it to be; and Dylan subsequently
returned to Columbia/CBS because of Asylum’s less effective sales-distribution system, not
because of this shoddy bully-boy tactic of a release. Best tracks: ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ (simultaneously
witty and touching), ‘Mr. Bojangles’ and ‘A Fool Such as I’."

Best Song:

and "The Ballad of Ira Hayes" is quite moving

Let's not forget "Lily of the West." Bob turns in a pretty fun rendition of that old chestnut. - djeaux
