Headline:Dylan comes to Vancouver - the never ending tour

Highlights:It was the day after my wedding. My new wife and I and my sister (who gave us the tickets went to see Bob Dylan) were there. Tracy Chapman had just put out her first album. The 'Fast Car' song was on the radio. She did a moving opening act. I think Bob may have come out to join her for her last number.

Dylan was good and steady for the first half of his set. After the intermission he came back and looked spaced out. Maybe he'd indulged in something during the break. His guitar playing was uncertain towards the end. At one point the lead guitarist got in front of him, and kneeling down to allow the crowd view, made exaggerated strumming motions. Bob followed these motions and strum strum the number ended. A sort of pseudo guitar lead by Mr. D.

Overview:In many ways Dylan had lived up to his reputation. He had picked a good solid opening act, and was not afraid of the comparison. His own numbers went much as we expected them. Sad to say even the second half slump seemed to say 'I still live like my reputation'. How many shows can you do where each one is better than the last? The performance was competent as I would expect from someone touring for nearly 30 years.

Final analysis:Another great musical performer I got to tick off of my imaginary best artists to see list. It was a nice gift from my sister.
